Rosewood edges CBA 27-26 after failed two-point conversion

PIKEVILLE — With less than 30 seconds remaining in the Little River Rivalry, the Charles B. Aycock offense was up against a wall.

Down 27-20 to rival Rosewood — and facing a fourth and long some 30 yards away from the end zone — it appeared the Eagles had the game in hand.

CBA junior quarterback Ethan Brock had different plans.

The young man threw a strike, resulting in a touchdown that brought the home team within a point.

Unfortunately for the Golden Falcons, Brock’s heroics weren’t enough.

Moments later, a failed two-point conversion sealed the game for Rosewood.

The Eagles (1-0) will play its home opener against North Johnston Friday evening, while CBA (0-1) hosts Eastern Wayne.
