NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING —
WAYNE COUNTY
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to consider a proposed amendment to Chapter 38 of the Wayne County Code of Ordinances entitled Flood Damage Prevention. The hearing will be held at 9:30 am in the Wayne County Commissioners Meeting Room, Wayne County Courthouse Annex, 224 East Walnut Street, Goldsboro, NC. The item to be discussed:
A-26-02 – Amend Chapter 38 of the Wayne County Code of Ordinances entitled Flood Damage Prevention to require all new residential construction located within FEMA X Zones (Shaded and Unshaded) to be elevated at least two (2) feet above the highest adjacent grade. This would include areas located outside the 100-year flood plain and/or floodway.
The public is invited to attend and speak at this hearing and/or submit any comments. Notice is hereby given that the Wayne County Voluntary Agricultural District Advisory Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Farm Bureau Room in the Maxwell Regional Agricultural & Convention Center at 3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The public hearing is being held pursuant to NCGS § 106-739 and Section 6-27 of the Wayne County Code of Ordinances.
The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comments regarding a request by the North Carolina Department of Transportation to condemn property that is within the Wayne County Voluntary Agriculture District.
The NC Department of Transportation is considering the condemnation of portions of properties owned by Margaret B. Sutton identified as Wayne County PINs: 3641860524 and 3641961404.
