School Board makes masks optional starting Nov. 3

The Wayne County Board of Education voted to make masking optional in Wayne County Public Schools during its meeting Monday evening.

The board voted 5-2 to end the mask mandate as of Wednesday morning, with Patricia Burden and Len Henderson voting against the measure.

The vote came after Public Information Officer Ken Derksen told the board that nearly 300 WCPS students were able to avoid a 10-day quarantine in October because masks were mandatory.

  1. Considering that children under 11 are not yet vaccinated- and are susceptible to catching COVID, this is yet another ignorant decision by the Wayne County BOE. Impeach them all!! (if only)
