GHS D forces six turnovers in 21-7 win over Anson

It was Senior Night at Goldsboro High School, but the evening belonged to a junior.

Justin Taylor had three interceptions to help the Cougars remain undefeated with a 21-7 victory over Anson.

Senior running back Marcus Williams, who said Goldsboro “wanted it more,” scored two touchdowns on the ground and the Cougars’ third score came on a Jamin Jacobs touchdown strike to Deonte Moore.

But in reality, it was the defense that won the game for the home team — forcing a staggering six turnovers.

Coach Timothy Ray said his team is proving to be “an elite group.”

“Same thing we always preach — discipline, alignment, assignment,” he said. “Cougar football.”

And as for Taylor’s performance?

“He’s always been this guy, since he walked through the doors,” Ray said. “He’s finally getting a chance to prove he can play at a high level.”

GHS (2-0) will host conference foe Clinton next week.
