Mulberry Street drive-by victim in “serious” condition

The victim of a Sunday drive-by shooting on East Mulberry Street has been identified by Goldsboro police.

Shameek Johnson, 25, is listed in serious condition and is being treated for a gunshot wound at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Residents of the quiet neighborhood heard a flurry of gunshots at just before 2 p.m. and many of them left their homes and rushed to Johnson’s aid.

GPD and Wayne County EMS responded moments later and transported Johnson to Wayne UNC hospital.

Investigators listed the weapon used as a “rifle” and are pursuing the shooter on attempted murder charges. GPD is currently a seeking individuals with any information and is encouraging them to contact Investigator Goins at 919-580-4203 or Sgt. Canady at 919-580-4210.
