15 Wayne County schools to require masks starting Wednesday

A Monday vote by the Wayne County Board of Education resulted in mask mandates at 15 local schools with a greater than 8-percent exclusion rate.

In other words, if 8 percent or more of a particular school’s population is currently quarantined, masks must be worn by all students, staff and visitors beginning Wednesday.

The new WCPS policy will require masking on the following campuses for a minimum of two weeks, but face coverings would be required longer should those schools’ exclusion rates not fall below the 8-percent threshold by the end of that time period.
