Wayne County Public Schools, in an effort “to help keep its school communities informed,” launched a dashboard on the district’s website that will provide the public with up-to-date COVID-19 data.
Since schools reopened to students and staff in August, the district has reported 82 cases of “individuals who had recently been on a WCPS campus who had tested positive for COVID-19” across 29 schools.
WCPS officials declined, however, to break down that number by students, teachers and other staff — and were also unwilling to provide the number of students, teachers and staff who have been quarantined because of close contact with an infected individual.
According to a news released, the dashboard will be updated Monday through Friday by 6 p.m., with daily cases for that week remaining posted until the following week. Cases reported over a weekend will be posted the following Monday.
