He might be an NFL superstar, but Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed has never forgotten where he came from.
In a news release, Wayne UNC Health Care announced that Reed will be providing meals to second- and third-shift “frontline teammates” at the Goldsboro hospital this evening.
“I’m glad I could partner with the United Way, Salvation Army and YMCA to feed the children, the families, the frontline workers and the seniors, while also supporting the local restaurants in Goldsboro,” the football pro said on Twitter.

Wayne UNC President and CEO Janie Jaberg said the hospital was grateful for Reed’s contributions.
“Jarran is a major supporter of our community and we’re honored that he’s chosen to give back to his hometown,” she said. “This is a challenging time for our teammates, and we’re grateful for all the things our community is doing to lift up our Wayne UNC family.”
But Reed’s giving goes beyond the hospital. He is also sending food trucks into several low-income neighborhoods this weekend to feed inner-city schoolchildren whose lives have been impacted by Gov. Roy Cooper’s stay at home order.
Reed played football for Goldsboro High School — and ultimately the University of Alabama — before being drafted by the Seahawks in 2016.
