Joe Gurley, a Wayne County Commissioner and former chairman of the board has died, the county said in a news release.
“The County of Wayne is saddened to hear of the passing of Wayne County Commissioner A. Joe Gurley, III. Commissioner Gurley served the citizens of Wayne County in District 4 since July 2014, and was appointed to serve as the chairman of the Board from December 2018 through December 2019,” the release said. “Flags at all County facilities be flown at half-staff in honor of Mr. Gurley. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gurley family, and we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
