Governor shuts down all N.C. schools for two weeks
Earlier this afternoon, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper issued an executive order that will result in the shutdown of all schools in the state for two weeks.
“I am guided by a clear goal: doing all we can to keep people from getting sick and to make sure that those who do have excellent care and treatment,” he said.
This morning, WCPS said they would not be closing schools at this time — that the Wayne County School Board would meet Monday to discuss its options after news that a local resident is presumed to have COVID-19 broke.
Cooper’s order has taken that decision out of local officials’ hands.
