For the second consecutive year, members of the Goldsboro High School cheerleading squad are state champions.

The Cougars brought home the title by winning the D2 Large Varsity division of the N.C. Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championship at Apex Friendship High School Saturday.

The victory marks the latest accomplishment for a team that had already claimed the county championship this season.

A portion of their routine can be seen here:

Head coach Bethany Stewart expressed pride Sunday when she talked about just how hard the young ladies on her team have worked this season.

“We are very proud of the ladies and their commitment and work ethic. Cheerleading is an extremely long season and they have all worked very hard,” she said. “The whole team was very excited with the performance and we hope this victory fuels and motivates the ladies for Nationals in March.”
