Breaking News: 9 p.m. curfew set for city

Goldsboro Mayor Chuck Allen has declared a “State of Emergency” and has instituted a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., as officials brace for unrest following Sunday evening’s peaceful protest downtown.

“Protests over George Floyd’s death and the actions of the Minneapolis Police officers involved have resulted in violence across our country. On Sunday night, a protest was held in downtown Goldsboro that remained mostly peaceful thanks to the Goldsboro Police Department and several community leaders,” a statement posted to the mayor’s Facebook page said. “Another protest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Monday, June 1, and is likely to draw a large crowd in the downtown area. In light of this, Mayor Chuck Allen has declared a “state of emergency” and instituted a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice, with the exception of people traveling to or from work.”

  1. The “mayor” was driving through Center St. while this was going on. These protests were peaceful and calm, no looting or destruction of any kind. Maybe the “mayor” needs to look into this a little more before wetting his panties like he did.
