The N.C. High School Athletic Association announced this afternoon that it would suspend all sports through April 6, amid fears associated with the potential spread of COVID-19.
“As much as we would like the opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches, and their communities, we know that ultimately any decision we make must err on the side of caution,” NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker said in a statement.
The suspension of spring sports begins at “11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 13,” but some Wayne County teams have already called off practices scheduled for this afternoon.

WHO is making these decisions? This is MORONIC. I get that it’s a virus and deadly to SOME people. But it’s killed NO ONE under 80 years of age and the death toll is only 38. The swine flu killed hundreds of people, infected SIXTY MILLION, and hospitalized 300,000. That’s funny, I remember watching the NCAA tournament that year. I also remember high school and professional sports playing full schedules. The common flu kills 60,000 people EVERY year and NO GAMES are cancelled. They don’t even shut down BINGO at the senior centers. This is totally political , completely unnecessary, and a purposeful attack on our economy…..
