They’re old enough to know what some people in the community are saying about them.
But members of the Goldsboro High School choral and band programs didn’t run from their critics Friday evening.
Instead, they repeated — right there on a stage inside the GHS auditorium — what they’ve heard.
“Are ya’ll still underperforming?” one young lady said.
“You can’t keep a principal,” another exclaimed.
“You can’t keep no teachers neither,” yet another said.
Some of those in attendance gasped.
“Man, y’all’s school stays in the newspaper,” a fourth student said. “Can anything good come from GHS?”
And then, over the next hour, the GHS Showstoppers and Mighty Marching Cougar Band answered the question with a breathtaking performance.
