Breaking: Committee won’t endorse any maps

A months-long redistricting process that cost the county $75,000 seemingly fizzled Monday evening, as the committee charged with making a recommendation to the Wayne County School Board decided against putting its stamp of approval on any of the maps presented to the public this summer.

Instead, the group will send Cropper GIS founder and president Matthew Cropper to an October 28 meeting to essentially tell the board that before any work can begin on a potential redraw of district lines, a facilities plan is needed.
