Under a revised calendar approved Monday evening by the Wayne County Board of Education, teachers at non-traditional schools will be asked to return to work July 31.
The day is a regular workday, meaning teachers can opt out of going in, but would have to use leave, and falls less than two weeks before the first day of school. The first designated work day — teachers’ presence is required — is Aug. 3 and school begins Aug. 6.
Teachers at traditional schools will be required to return to their respective campuses Aug. 10, with classes set to begin Aug. 17.
