A raucous — and festive — student section couldn’t pull its teams through Tuesday evening in Pikeville as the Charles B. Aycock varsity girls team was overmatched from the opening jump and the varsity boys had a chance to beat South Central at the buzzer, but came up just short.
The boys fell to 3-6 on the season and the girls are now 5-4. Both teams travel to South Lenoir Thursday.
