In a chippy rivalry game complete with trash-talking, late hits, personal foul penalties and turnovers, two huge offensive plays gave the Goldsboro High School football team its second consecutive win of the season.
A 25-yard jump ball caught by standout senior wide receiver Jykeis Mclean gave the Cougars a 14-6 lead over Southern Wayne with 5:21 remaining in the third quarter and the home team never looked back.
Goldsboro (2-1) has now knocked off two consecutive rivals and takes on another, Charles B. Aycock, next week.
