BREAKING NEWS: Nelson named new GHS principal

Greenwood Middle School principal Ryan Nelson was named the new Goldsboro High School principal Tuesday evening after a vote by the Wayne County School Board, WCPS communications and public relations director Ken Derksen confirmed this morning.

Nelson, who replaces Christopher D. Horne, has nearly two decades of experience in education and has also served as an assistant principal at Southern Wayne High School, Eastern Wayne High School, and North Drive Elementary.

“In addition to having a diverse background and over a decade of school administration experience, Mr. Nelson brings with him a strong familiarity with Goldsboro and Wayne County,” Superintendent Dr. Michael Dunsmore said in a news release. “We believe Mr. Nelson will bring needed administrative stability to the school. My administrative team looks forward to working with Mr. Nelson and his staff to continue moving Goldsboro High forward.”
